Earthquake on 7.3 Richter Scale Shake Java
JAKARTA – A big measuring earthquake shake the western part of Java Island yesterday (September 2, 2009). Indonesian Foundation of Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (BMKG) recorded a large earthquake occurred five times in the Mentawai region and Tasikmalaya, Indonesia. Mentawai earthquake happens twice reported at around 09.08 am on local time. Its center located at 60 km southeast of Siberut. The first earthquake magnitude in 5.3 Richter Scale (SR). Then earthquake magnitude lower, 5.2 SR. Fortunately, the two earthquakes did not cause casualties.
